First Beach Day this Summer!

We headed out yesterday for our first "Beach Friday" this summer. Friday is Brian's day off and we love to just hang out at the beach. It was overcast for the first part that we were there, and then the sun came out, but it was still only about 70 degrees. I sure hope it warms up out here soon! Although, I'm not complaining...

Here are a few shots I got of Sadie today. The first one is my favorite. I like it in black and white better than color. What do you think?

I don't know what I'm going to do with this girl's hair! Sometimes she will let me put it in pigtails and sometimes she won't. At those times, it's just in her face.

It's no secret that Sadie has not been a fan of the sand the past few summers. Well, we FINALLY got her to get down and play in it just a little. Notice she's sitting on a blanket with her shoes ON. She wouldn't take them off the whole time we were there, but hey, at least she played with the sand a little. As you can tell by her face in this picture, she was not thrilled at first.

Then she realized that she didn't actually have to touch the sand to play with it - she discovered the shovels!

After working up an appetite, it was snacktime!

YEAH!!! Who doesn't love a yummy snack at the beach?

And for my last picture. My mom sent me the wonderful little gadgets. They clip your towel to your beach chair so the towel won't blow away or slip down! They work great! Thanks Mom!

Money, money, money!

So this morning I’m going through papers, receipts and such while Sadie is wondering around and Brian is on the tredmill. Sadie comes over to me and our conversation goes a little like this…

”Mommy, dat one?” (Sadie asking me if she can have that one – which happens to be a $20 dollar bill.)

“Sure, honey, whatever.”

“Mommy, Sadie’s?”

“No, Sadie that is for the church.”

“Oh, Mommy, dare” (points toward the window)

“Yes, Baby” (thinking she means we have to go out there to take it to the church)

(Brian enters conversation)

“Shannon! Sadie just shredded 20 dollars!!!”

Yes, fellow blog readers, our precious angel who never does anything wrong shredded a 20 dollar bill this morning. I’m considering taking it out of her college fund to repay the church (just kidding). Anyway, she was reprimanded, but I just couldn’t resist laughing, pulling out all the pieces I could find and blogging about it.

Brian reminded me that at least it’s not as bad as him using two 100 dollar bills on two separate occasions at church for an illustration and losing BOTH of them. Yes, folks BOTH!! Needless to say, Brian isn’t allowed to use money as an illustration anymore.

Do you think if I taped it all back together someone would accept it?

Mersadie's 2nd Birthday!!

I know everyone says things like this, but I cannot believe that it was 2 years ago that Sadie was born and I held her for the very first time. I was carrying her up to bed last night just thinking of how much has happened and how much she has grown. I can't hold her with just one arm anymore. What amazing things happen in just 2 short years! Sadie knows her colors, a lot of shapes, and she can read more than 30 words - seriously!! I am just so proud of her and she adds so much spice to our lives!! Here are pictures from her little bitty family party that we had for her last night. All of the plans I had fell through, so she got a cookie cupcake from Mrs. Fields and a gift from the Disney Store (that didn't even get wrapped) - oh well. The best laid plans...

in December!!!

So, we are going to be adding to our family around December 8th! It's taken so long for me to "post" about this because I never did get a good picture of Sadie in her big sister shirt and we have been so busy with friends and family in town and traveling that I haven't been blogging about anything lately. We still have a few weeks until we find out the sex of the baby, but we are SO excited around here.

Yes, We're Still Here!

and Merdsadie is as silly as ever! On Sundays Sadie likes to entertain the people who stand outside of the nursery and look in like the kids are on exhibit. Here she is smooshing her face against the window. We all get a great belly laugh out of this.

It seems like things have not stopped around here since before Easter! I have oh, so many pictures to post and oh, so little time. So, I will post them as I can - a few at a time. Brian's family got to come and visit the first week of May and we had a VERY eventful week showing them around So. Cal. and trying to cram everything in to one week. I think they went home more exhausted from their vacation than when they came. I have a few pictures to post of them here...those will come. Right after they were here I got to go home to K.C. to visit with my family. I didn't take as many pictures as usual, but did have fun doing a "maternity shoot" with Rebecca Harrington - I need to get those edited. And I also did a photo shoot with my mom and two of her sisters - those will be coming soon too! So, if you've actually read this far down, I am off to edit and post more pictures. First Day of Preschool (a little late)

So, Sadie started going to the preschool at our church back in February (she just goes a few 1/2 days a week) and I took pictures of her first day, but I forgot to post them. I figured since I haven't taken pictures of her in a while, I would just post these since no one has seen them. I'll try to get some pictures of Mersadie doing something amazing soon. In the meantime, enjoy her first day of school.

Ready for school. Backpack and all. Sadie had no problems on her first day. She walked in and started playing and the finally remembered to look back and say "bye Mama". She is enjoying school and I am enjoying running errands quickly or cleaning the house without her right behind me pulling everything out.

Easter 2009

Here are some pictures from our Easter here in Yorba Linda, CA! We had AMAZING church services yesterday. I'm pretty speechless about it all, but God is SO incredibly good! Enjoy the pics - Sadie wasn't into getting her picture taken yesterday, so none of them are great, but they are Sadie so I love 'em!

When we got to church yesterday, another little one, Hallie, showed up in the SAME dress and sweater! The sweater didn't even come with the dress - Sarah (Hallie's mom) and I thought they were pretty cute. It's cute now. It won't be cute when they show up to their prom wearing the same dress. We'll have to make sure we communicate when that time comes!

Mersadie's 1st Easter Egg Hunt! Brian and I went to the Badajos' house for Easter dinner with our "staff family" and some other wonderful friends. Miss Vicki's egg hunt was the best - for every egg you found, you got $1!!! Sadie racked up $11 - thanks to some help from Carie and Gabe. They were very kind to her!
