We finally got a chance to take Sadie to see Santa. Although I vowed that I would not go back to the mall until February 1st (after my crazy day on Wednesday), I had forgotten that we had not taken Sadie to see Santa yet. So...Brian and I braved the mall on the last Saturday before Christmas. I was a bit nervous because Sadie does not usually like to be handed off to anyone else besides Brian or I and anytime we try to have professional pictures taken, she freaks out. This brings us to the mall...we had to stand in line for about 40 minutes, which was not too bad. Sadie was as happy as could be and everything went great. And even though she did not smile, she didn't freak out, either. We got a decent picture and decided to buy the c.d. of the image so we could print them for all the grandparents, aunts, unlces...so here is the first picture we got...

"Where is the picture?" You ask? That's what I was asking, too when I brought the c.d. home and popped it in my computer to update the blog. Yep! They did not burn the image on the c.d. So...another trip to the mall we took! Stood in line again (this time just me and Sadie, no Brian). I was nervous again...will she throw a fit? will I have a screaming kid? will everyone think I am so mean for making my daughter take a picture with scary Santa? Well, we finally go the picture and here is how it really turned out...not too bad... Merry Christmas!!

Soon after I sat her down in front of the tree, Sadie discovered the presents. I can just hear her saying "can I open just one? Pleeeease, Momma?"

Splish, Splash I was takin' a Bath!

Sadie has recently discovered that when she slaps the water during bath time that it goes flying across the room. Here she is being a little "booger"! But she's a cute little boogie! The second picture says it all!! Enjoy!

So, if you didn't already know, Brian and I are a bit crazy - or we just don't think sometimes. We decided to go to Boston in the middle of December - hmmm, I guess we just needed a taste of "real" cold weather. Well, did we ever get it - and a foot of snow to top it all off. Here are a few pictures of our adventure as well as a few snapshots of us around the house. Sadie has learned to sit up all by herself!! Auntie M got to come for a few days and hang out - Sadie LOVES her Auntie M. She's the only person I know that can make Sadie laugh out loud without trying really hard.

Thanksgiving Fun

We went to Ohio this year to celebrate Thanksgiving with Brian's family. We had a wonderful time with them - got to see their church, which is growing like crazy and they got to spoil the little Sade-nator (one of the many nicknames she picked up last week). And Thanksgiving is just not complete without a taste of pumpkin pie...we're pretty sure Sadie liked her rice cereal better.
These are some adorable pants that Brian bought for Sadie a while back and it was finally cold enough for her to wear them.
We didn't have all the equipment we have at home, so we decided to give Sadie a bath in the sink for the first time. She was a slippery little one and didn't enjoy the experience too much, but we got the job done.

Ahhh, the highlight of Thanksgiving day...Sadie has learned to roll from her back to her belly. It takes her just a second, but you'll see the kind of predicaments that I'm looking forward to happening daily now.

All Bundled Up

We are getting ready to go to cold Ohio to visit Brian's family for Thanksgiving. Because we live in "sunny southern California", I borrowed a coat from Kayli (thanks Noelle) and we bought a hat and mittens for Mersadie. I just couldn't resist putting it all on her to see what she thought about it...and isn't she so cute? I can't wait to see what she thinks about the cold weather...maybe it will even snow!?! Wishful thinking...

Anyway, the first picture is how I found Sadie one morning when I went in her room to get her out of bed. Yes, I know she is 5 months old, but I still swaddle her...this time, though, she broke free and seemed to be pretty proud of herself! She also scooted herself down so much that her head was inbetween the sleep positioner where her torso should have been...guess it's time to just let her sleep in her bed without any help from swaddling or positioners!

First Taste of "Real" Food

Almost time for Thanksgiving - here's our little turkey!!

Sadie had her first taste of real food a week ago - mmm rice cereal. The first feeding was funny and I think she probably wanted to say - "why are you feeding me my milk with a spoon?" - because it was so thin. By the end of the week, she was eating from a spoon like a champ! She's got it down and we are going to start feeding her cereal twice a day this week!

Double the Love!!

Sadie is only just under 5 months and has already flown to K.C. twice to see family!! We got to see Grammy, Papa, Auntie M, Great Grandma and other Aunts and Uncles - some we didn't get pictures with, but we will at Christmas time. Also, as a wonderful surprise, we got to see Pastor and Carla Slayden. They were in K.C. at Lance and Rebecca's church, so we had breakfast together and they got to meet Sadie! While I was at my mom's we bought a pumpkin, gutted it, cut leg holes in it and sat Sadie inside. I really wanted to take pictures of her in the pumpkin outside, but it was too cold for her to only be in a diaper, so we took them inside. Ended up with a few good pictures and there is no other time that she will be able to fit inside a pumpkin!!

Mersadie's First Halloween

We took Sadie to the Fall Festival that the Friends Church puts on every year. Of course, she wasn't really able to do anything, but she sure did attract A LOT of attention. Our little fishy loved looking at all of the people and taking in all the sites of the rides. In a few years she'll want to ride them all. No trick-or-treating this year - it was church night for us and I really don't need the candy anyway.

Nothing to Do

We stay pretty busy most of the time, but the other day Sadie and I didn't have any plans, so I just snapped a few pictures of her. I hope you enjoy looking at her as much as I do!
