The Ring of Fire

As most of you are probably aware, the wildfires have come to Yorba Linda. It has been a very unsettling thing to say the least. Yesterday was crazy. Our home was not in very close proximity (the closest fire was about 2-3 miles away) to the fires, but a lot of our church members had to be evacuated and the fire got very, very close to many of their houses. Unfortunately, one of the older ladies in our church lost her home to the fire. Brian is with her right now trying to help her figure out what to do. Our church became a place for people to go, then the fires got to close to that. We opened up our home for church members and had several come over while they could not be in their homes. Please pray for those who have lost everything. I cannot imagine how life-shattering that would be. I have posted a few pictures of what it looked like right outside our house yesterday. These have not been altered - this was really the color of everything - very eerie!
The sun was absolutely red. This was at about 2:30 in the afternoon.

The smoke and fires put an orange cast on everything. The light coming through our windows in the house made everything this bright red-orange color. We felt like it was 5 or 6 in the evening and it was only 2:30!

This was at about 1:30 p.m. - looking directly out of our front door.

This was about 1:30 looking to the right of our house. The smoke was filling the sky. It was truly like something out of a movie.

Onto something a bit more light-hearted. Mersadie.
This is Sadie screaming. Not sure why she was screaming, but I thought it made a classic photo.

Her screaming wasn't something a little "airplane" ride couldn't fix.

Happier times for sure. Wish my mood could change that quick sometimes!

OOOOOOO! Scary photos of the fire. I didn't realize they were so close to you until this morning. I was watching the news while getting ready for church and heard fire and Yorba Linda. I perked right up and then Pastor talked about it today during announcements. Will pray for your church members.
Oh, and who doesn't like an airplane ride? Personally, I prefer the shiny metal kind that takes me on a cool vacation!

I am so sorry to hear about the woman who lost her house. We came very close to losing our house by fire last year (encased our entire front and back yard) from a construction worker accidentally hitting a power line. I am praying for CA, your family, and your church during this scary time. Keep us posted!

On a happy note, is that black polish I see you rocking on your toes? Love it!

My cousins live in Yorba Linda too. They sent us some pictures very similar to the ones you posted. That is so scary. I think the worst part would have to be knowing that you can't do anything to stop it or slow it down. I hope they get those fires put out quickly!
Love the pics of the Sadester. :)

oh, I haven't seen fires that bad before. There were many years where we were breathing that ash air when I was growing up...that is why everyone is so crazy in the head out there...it's the ash air! ha! (Darn those Santa Anna winds!!) I have been wondering how everything was out there...we are praying for you guys. Love you, by the way, love those toes! Ha!!! See you in a couple of weeks, yippy!!

Shannon, that is so scary having fires so close, I did wonder about the ash, air quality and if you can smell the smoke even inside your home? I'll be praying for your family and your church family and that some good will come from this tragedy. That is one cute little girl, I agree with you, I wish my mood could swing to the good that quickly. I can flash mad real fast but it's harder to go back. God be with you!

I tried what you told me, and I changed my background/template, and it didn't do anything. Any other suggestions?
